Introduction to Geographic Information Systems

This course serves as introduction to the theory and practice of geographic information systems (GIS) and associated tehnologies (such as global positioning systems, or GPS). I will emphasize case studies and lab exercises from the disciplines in which the use of GIS is becoming commonplace such as: biology, environmental chemistry and toxicology, epidemiology, geography, geology, and marketing. The course has 2, 1-hour lectures and 2, 1-labs each week.
