Microsoft Teams/Canvas Integration Is Changing – Current Tools Leaving in June

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Microsoft recently announced that they are in the process of updating some of their LTIs – and the Teams Classes and Teams Meetings LTIs are at the top of the list. Both of these tools in their current iteration will stop working in Canvas June 15, 2025. Microsoft is working a “new, unified experience” that consolidates the capabilities of both of these tools, but there is no further information on this so far.

Since we do not know when exactly Microsoft will release new tools, there are some simple workarounds to use after June 15.

If you are using Teams Classes, your Team will still exist – and you can just provide a link to the Team inside Canvas!

If you are using Teams Meetings, any meetings created before June 15 will stay on the Canvas calendar and operate as normal. If you want to meet with your students via Teams after June 15, all you have to do is create a Teams Meeting inside Teams (the easiest way is through the “calendar” page!), save the meeting, and share the link with your students. You can easily create a single or recurring meeting through Teams.

We’ll be watching for all the information about the new LTIs from Microsoft, and we’ll keep y’all updated as we learn more! If you have questions about these workarounds or need a different solution for your class, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at ctl@cedarville.edu.
